According to one wonderful reader of our site, Dean Massi from Canada, there are apparently 2 audio versions of this film. The original dub has all African performers with local dialects or South African accents. I can't remember the accents that I heard 20 years ago in the theatrical version that I saw, but according to Dean, the original Kate Thompson spoke with an Afrikaan accent. If that is true, then this is the redub - because she's certainly American sounding in this production. Dean's isn't the only complaint on this score, but it seems universal - so apparently this dubbed version is the only one available on DVD worldwide. But there again, I could be wrong - and I have no doubt you - dear readers, will set me straight.
