It’s interesting that the Australian censor re-classified the director’s cut of Picnic at Hanging Rock with a PG rating. Prior to this, the film held a G rating since its initial cinema release in 1975. Considering the director’s cut actually has scenes removed, it must be assumed The Office of Film and Literature Classification has made a long overdue correction. There are some themes in this film that could be confronting to young viewers, so the PG rating is accurate and appropriate.
