The The Fall of the Roman Empire has been cut and recut a number of times and there were various running times from 187 minutes to 153 minutes. This version at 177:41 minutes (PAL) is probably as complete as we can now get, with the overture, intermission and exit music in place. However, there are still some scenes missing and there are abrupt cuts, for example where Commodus and Livius go up the stairs when they first meet and suddenly Commodus is forcing a drink on a German girl. Again, shortly after the intermission the scene suddenly ends up on a battle in a cave with no idea how they got there. From the timing advertised for the Region 1 NTSC releases (184:51) these scenes are also missing from those versions.
