Censuring The Censors

History of Violence, A (Blu-ray) (Reel)

The Blu-ray ALL Australia features the International "UNCUT" version of the film while the Blu-ray ALL America features the US "CUT" version of the film.

The first cut on the Blu-ray ALL America version is:

(Blu-ray ALL America) At 55:46 the victim's nose is broken.
(Blu-ray ALL Australia) The international version features the victim's broken nose with a profuse amount of blood and it is clear the nose has been smashed into the victim's skull.

The second cut on the Blu-ray ALL America version is:

(Blu-ray ALL America) At 84:37 the victim's neck is broken and blood fills the victims mouth.
(Blu-ray ALL Australia) The international version features the sound of the victim’s neck breaking and the victim chokes on a profuse amount of blood which rushes out of his mouth.

Both shots last the same length of time and use the same take, the amount of blood was simply toned down digitally for the MPAA.
