Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (Blu-ray)

Which version of the film is this? Good question. The IMDb provides details of the various cuts here including this comment: “The UK DVD from DD Video was originally the same as the USA R-rated print but was then corrected to reinsert the teeth clamping sequence. The German R2 DVD, which contained an English language track, restores all of the cuts except for the small trim to the close-up of the throat wound and was, for some years, the most complete version of the film available on DVD. The film was eventually fully restored and was released on DVD in the UK in 2014.”

Movie Censorship gives details of the variations between the US and UK DVDs here but conclude “finally, the movie was released uncut on a great DVD/Blu-Ray combo box in the UK by Icon.”

Looking at that report our Blu-ray release looks to be the same cut as the UK DVD, with all those scenes intact. In the commentary on this Blu-ray, recorded in 2011, Hammer expert and author Marcus Hearn comments about the scenes added back and concludes that is this is the uncut version. Amazon.com lists the Region B UK Blu-ray and DVD combo as running 95 minutes whereas our Blu-ray (and DVD) cut of the film runs 90:37. I cannot confirm the UK running time; if correct it could have additional scenes to the ones showing on the Movie Censorship site or IMDb. But as none have been mentioned elsewhere who knows.

Hopefully someone with the UK Blu-ray can let me know!
