The fourth film in Truffaut's series finds Doinel with everything he desired in his youth; a beautiful, devoted wife (Claude Jade), the support of his in-laws, the affection of all who know him but Antoine is still unable to restrain his passions, falling in with a seductive Japanese mistress (Hiroko Berghauer) before the surreal tryst self-destructs.
