The Band emerged from the rock scene of the late 60's and made immediate impact with two hugely influential albums, music from The Big Pink and The Band. These albums set the apart from the over-produced psychedelic music of the period. They caught the ears of the public, as well as other musicians, with such classic songs as: The Weight, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, Up On Cripple Creek and Life Is A Carnival. The Band - The Authorized Biography traces the group's storied history. There are over 25 songs, rare television and concert performances, never-before-seen archival film and candid interviews which chronicles The Band's vast musical influence through their triumphs and tragedies. Also included are segments of The Last Waltz, which documents The Band's break-up as well as footage of their rebirth at Bob Dylan's 30th Anniversary Concert. As Ed Ward wrote in Rolling Stones' History Of Rock & Roll, "There is no doubt that the achievements of this unique group has forever earned them the right to be known simply as The Band."
