Fred Burley was an Australian pioneer. An unsung hero who wanted all Australians to buy Australian made. So in Sydney in the Roaring 1920s he put his money and expertise into lifting Australia's women out of their whalebone corsets and into the new flattering figure form lingerie. And the Berlei empire was born. From David Elfick, the producer of NEWSFRONT and STARSTRUCK, and photographed by Academy Award winning Cinematographer Dean Semler, UNDERCOVER is the story of that momentous event as told through the eyes of young and naive Libby (Genevieve Picot), who leaves a job in a small town corsetry salon to travel to the Big Smoke and find work as a trainee lingerie designer at Unique Corsets. Owned by Fred Burley (John Walton), dominated by the extravagant head designer Nina (Sandy Gore) and sold to the public by Yankee marketing expert Max (Michael Paré), Libby soon finds herself in the middle of a Unique revolution as Berlei is born and the women of Australia race to suspender their disbelief and become uplifted (and separated) in their all new Berlei bras.
