Each incoming student is requested to spend one month living with a partner in order to explore themselves. This year's students include sexually over-active Stanley (Don Johnson) and his timid partner Sheila (Laurie Walters) and inhibited Harry (Bruno Kirby) who's paired with easy-going Beth (Victoria Thompson). As the days pass the two couples adjust to the situation, the funny and moving events which follow ensure that everyone involved will be changed by the experiment.
