In 2004, Eric Clapton assembled a who's who of guitar masters for the first Crossroads Guitar Festival, raising funds for the Crossroads Centre, Antigua, a chemical dependency treatment and education facility Clapton founded after his own legendary struggles with drugs and alcohol. The sold-out show yielded a double-DVD that has been certified eight times platinum (3 x platinum in Australia alone) in US, becoming one of the world's top-selling music DVDs. In July 2007, Clapton invited old friends and new for another Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago.
Filmed in HD, the 2 DVD set contains four hours of legendary musicians in solo performances and jamming together, along with remarkable footage taken backstage at this six-string summit. Clapton explains "The Crossroads Festival is the realization of a dream for me, to gather a group of amazingly talented musicians to perform onstage The Crossroads performers are all musicians I admire and respect."
