Deanna Durbin, this time as an aspiring actress working as a waitress, is again joined on screen by Charles Laughton (IT STARTED WITH EVE) and Franchot Tone (NICE GIRL?, HIS BUTLER'S SISTYER)., When Kim Walker (Deanna) obtains an autograph from great actor John Sheridan (Laughton) she tries to use it to secure a role in the play in which he is about to star. But playwright Paul Taylor(Franchot Tone) doesn't want her. Can Kim get Sheridan on her side, and will Paul weaken when he realises she's also fallen in love with him?, Deanna gets to sing "Goodbye", Rodgers and Hart's "Lover" and the traditional favourite "Danny Boy".
