Meet Harry Burns (Billy Crystal) and Sally Albright (Meg Ryan) - a couple trying to figure out how they can stay such good friends in spite of Harry's staunch belief that a man simply can't be friends with a woman he finds attractive. Harry is a typical pessimist who has to read the last page of a novel first so that if he dies in mid-read, he'll at least know how the story turned out. Sally is a play-it-safer kind of gal who things that Ingrid Bergman did the right thing in Casablanca by flying off and leaving Humphrey Bogart behind. When Harry Met Sally covers a period of eleven years as Harry and Sally try to stay in friendship and out of each others beds. Harry even sets up his best pal Jesse (Bruno Kirby) with Sally, and Sally pairs Harry with her closest friend Marie (Carrie Fisher). Their plans backfire as their friends become lovers. The big problem is that when Harry and Sally do finally fall in love, neither will admit it. Does the relationship stand a chance?
