The Visitor (2007)

In his powerhouse Oscar®-nominated performance, Richard Jenkins (Six Feet Under, Burn After Reading) stars as Walter Vale, a widowed college professor who has been drifting through life since the passing of his concert pianist wife. While not a skilled musician, Walter yearns to feel a connection to her by indulging in the escapism of musical performance. When Walter returns to their New York apartment after a long break, he finds a young immigrant couple, Tarek and Zainab, have taken up residence. In a rare moment of compassion, he allows them to stay, and he soon finds himself becoming deeply involved in their lives.

Directed by The Station Agent's Tom McCarthy, The Visitor is a story about rediscovering life's rhythms in the most unexpected places.
