What drives someone to kill? And how do they live with themselves?

1. Passion Call centre supervisor Jane Saunders is obsessed with her happily married manager, Stephen. On the outside, Jane seems to be a keen, hard-working member of the office – but, on the inside, she is an obsessive loner who yearns for attention. Things turn nasty when Jane becomes convinced that Stephen is having an affair with Kerry, one of their colleagues. She meticulously arranges to get rid of both her love rivals, stabbing Kerry with a pair of dressmaking scissors and framing Stephen’s wife, Michelle, for the murder.

2. Disposal Barry Coates is a quiet unassuming man. He has a beautiful and successful wife, Angela, a nice house and a job in waste management which fulfils him. As far as he is concerned, his life is perfect. Granted most would find it dull and boring. But he likes it that way. So when he unwittingly discovers that Angela is having an affair with her business partner and brother-in-law, Alex, rather than destroy the cosy fabric of his marriage and home life, Barry opts for more drastic action. He plans the perfect murder, giving himself the perfect alibi.

3. Rage Ed is a 40-something bachelor still living at home with his possessive mother, Rose. She has never let him forget that he was responsible for the death of her husband and other son. Ed works for a hardware store, and is having a particularly bad day. On the way home, he gets into an argument with a fellow motorist on a lonely country road, loses his temper and stabs him. Horrified by what he has done, he drives away in panic.

4. Swan Song When Mark White falls for the ample charms of sexy nightclub singer, Tara Stevens, he is so besotted he is prepared to do anything for her – even murder. Fed up with her husband Derek’s bullying and constant put-downs about her singing career, Tara urges her gullible toyboy lover to kill him, so that she can inherit his fortune and they can live together.

5. Flashback Nicholas Chadwick, a rising QC, is a regular visitor to the home of high-class prostitute,Angela Stephenson. But when she tries to blackmail him, instead of paying her, he decides to silence her for good. He meticulously plans the perfect murder and, to avoid detection, the ambitious barrister uses his power and influence to frame a client whom he is currently representing in a drug possession case.

6.Victim There have been several highly publicised murders of young women in the area in recent weeks. Lucy begs Emily to take care when doing her nightshifts. When the latest killing happens round the corner from their house, Lucy suspects their weird landlord. Her behaviour becomes obsessive and she keeps a diary of his movements. Her anxiety is further heightened when personal items disappear from her room. However, Emily's suspicions fall on her friend when an album of morbid press cuttings detailing the recent murders is discovered. Surely it's the neurotic Lucy she should be concerned about?

7. Memories The past has a way of catching up with you and no one knows this better than Stuart Wilsher. The successful pediatric surgeon is almost at breaking point, tormented by a recurring nightmare. In his dream, he sees a nine-year-old boy running through dense woodland, pursued by a faceless individual. The nightmare always ends the same: the boy falls over and meets his death. The dreams are taking their toll on Stuart’s temper. When he scares his seven-year-old son, his wife Jenny begs him to seek psychological help. In a state of deep relaxation, Stuart reveals that his nightmare was probably derived from an incident in his own life when he was 10.The local papers of that time carried a story of a missing boy, Tim, who was feared dead. His photograph resembles the boy in Stuart’s dream. And according to his mother, Stuart,Tim and another boy – Richard Croft – used to play together before Tim disappeared…

8. Regrets After a three-week stay in hospital, hard-working small businessman Ken Grendle returns to work to find his company in turmoil. Ken is given a week to sort out his finances and immediately gets to work chasing up bad debts. Jim Broutaby, one of Ken’s regular customers, owes him a large sum of money and promises to settle immediately. But the bank insists that the payment was never deposited into Ken's account, and the deadline has now passed. When a frantic Ken proves that the transfer of money had been made, the bank refuses to admit liability and says he has to prove it is their fault. The bank forecloses and Ken loses everything. In desperation he contemplates suicide and is only stopped by the timely arrival of his loyal friend and company salesman, Dave Bowring. Ken is a broken man, with time on his hands – time to plan the ultimate revenge…
