Popular comedy actor Richard Wilson steers six classic cars round the twists and turns of the best drives of Britain In the 1950s, driving was largely a pastime, with a Sunday drive often the highlight of the week. The joy of the open road has worn off for most of us in the 21st century, with driving now a chore rather than a pleasure. Using routes from the driving guidebooks of the era, Richard Wilson (ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE) steers six classic cars round the twists and turns of Britain's most scenic areas. Covering the regions of the English Lake District, Cornish Coast, Scottish Highlands, North Yorkshire Moors, Wye Valley and Snowdonia, and a wide range of classic motors such as the Morris Traveller, VW Camper Van, the Austin Cambridge and a Bentley, Richard takes a trip down memory lane, meeting interesting characters who have an insight into how each route has changed, and how Britain has changed with it. This 2 disc set includes all 6 programs of the BBC series, including a bonus episode showing how Richard Wilson learnt to drive a manual car specifically for his journey, along with additional unseen footage.
