A unique and intimate six-part series goes beyond growing produce, cooking and interviews, it's a story about a world-class cricketer choosing a new life... the country life. Passionate about his family, the outdoors and food, this is Matthew Hayden's journey back to his home town, exploring what home means to him as he works to make his ideal a reality. Retiring from the Australian cricket team last year Matthew is on a quest to achieve a more self-sufficient, sustainable and enriched lifestyle for his family as he discovers what is best to grow and graze in order to live the good life. Episode 1: Foundations In this, the first of six episodes we meet up with Matthew after his retirement from the Aussie test cricket team to find him in a relaxed, thoughtful mood. Episode 2: Stone Matthew's new kitchen garden is just underway. Day two of construction and it's looking disconcertingly like a cleared building site, but the foundation has been laid. Episode 3: Animals Matthew Hayden is keen to expand his currently modest base of chooks and bees, and sets off to meet various experts in raising livestock. Back at his homestead, horticulturalist Nicole Moon unveils the latest backyard masterpiece, the Hen Hilton. Episode 4: Orchard Day 10 of construction and we're halfway there. It’s now time to consider the orchard area, which will be fenced off from the central garden closest to the house. Episode 5: Planting With the structural elements of the garden just about done there's time before the pay-off-planting and garden-greening to take a much needed break with the family. Episode 6: Harvest It's been six months since the garden was finished and after a busy period away from home, playing in the Indian Premier League, Matthew and the family are hosting a backyard BBQ for family and friends.
