TILL HUMAN VOICES WAKE US is the stunning debut film from highly successful Australian screenwriter Michael Petroni (Queen of the Damned). 15 year old Sam Franks, who has just returned from boarding school, and local girl Silvy, strike up an intense friendship. They are kindred spirits in this sleepy Victorian country town until one night they set out for a swim and the unthinkable occurs. Fast forward 20 years later and Sam (Guy Pearce), now a teacher of psychology at Melbourne University, has returned to the same town, to escort his father's body back to a place that has haunted him since that night. Caught in a massive downpour he rescues a mysterious woman, Ruby (Helena Bonham Carter), from the deluge in the river.
