Two rival gangs, fighting for supremacy in underground New York sets the scene for Abel Ferrara’s China Girl. Torn from the pages of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet comes the story of Tony Monte and Tyan-Hwa.

Each a part of an indignant war that threatens to quash there love before it’s even begun. The tragedy of this fated meeting is Tony’s brother, Johnny Mercury - a hot-headed Italian gang leader, and Tyan’s brother, Yung-Gan – leader of the reigning Chinese gang. Two gangs, terminally entangled in a street war over rival territories. Each and every member of the rival gangs resolute in their devotion to the destruction of the other, with exception to these two lovers who seek a way out of their outdated world where tradition and turf mean more than love.
