He’s an American pop icon…

He’s achieved God-like adulation from rock stars…

He’s had more desirable women than James Bond…

He’s the idol of every American male…

Ron Jeremy is the worlds most famous Porn Star and this is his story.

Scott Gills “Porn Star” is a fascinating look at America’s unlikeliest sex star, the boy with the sweet smile and striking eyes, the dissatisfied porn actor with a voracious appetite and wicked grin. The flim is dense with revealing details of his life.

Ron Jeremy is rich and famous (superstar famous) yet he is notoriously cheap. He’s embarrassed by his early work (where is displays a truly rare ability to satisfy himself). Some of his female co-stars consider him a sweetheart, while others find him repulsive and refuse to work with him. He uses garbage sacks as luggage, he’s not really the settling down kind and he scribbles little notes and phone numbers in a ratty old book, like a madman.

Ron Jeremy isn’t what you’d call easy on the eye…….some would even go so far as to say he’s unattractive. But this did not stop him becoming one of the most popular stars in the history of adult films. He is short fat & hairy and gets paid very well to have sex with thousands of beautiful women, some people would call him the luckiest man in the world.

Porn Star begins with some of Ron’s “friends” and industry stable mates setting up the enigma that is Ron Jeremy and his frustration and desire to be a legitimate actor. We then move on to where it all began, the road to Porn Stardom. Ron was born and raised in Flushing Queens into a normal and very loving Jewish family; he had an idyllic, simple childhood but was rocked by the death of his mother to cancer. Ron remains close to his family today.

In high school he was always popular with the girls and after he graduated went on to continue his education at Queens College. His first love had always been acting but as any good Jewish boy knows you need a solid career to fall back on. So Ron chose to pursue a Degree in Special Education with a major in Theatre. When he graduated and ventured out into the workforce it was as a teacher, helping children with special needs. This was his career for several years but the call of the stage was too loud too ignore so Ron decided to follow his heart and pursue a career in acting.

Several off Broadway productions and Children’s Theatre performances later, Ron was still no closer to his dream. It took a girlfriends secretive submission to Playgirl Magazine, of a photo of Ron displaying his best “asset” for the film world to stand up and take notice. Although the Porn industry was not the legitimate career he craved, Ron figured it was a start and a legend was created.

Ron went on to star in around 1800 adult films, his ability to perform on cue and legendary 9¾ inch penis coupled with his everyman appearance has helped him to become one of the most revered and respected figures in the porn industry.

In the film we follow Ron from the production of his latest movie, to his induction into the fraternity of a college full of worshipping Ron fans and finally to his monthly blood test where he nervously awaits the results of yet another HIV test.

However despite all his success, money and sexual conquests Ron is painted as a normal guy who hungers after a legitimate acting career and struggles to be taken seriously. He is perpetuated by an internal drive to succeed but where will he go when he is no longer up to the task?

Porn Star is a funny, warm and realistic look at an ordinary man living an extra ordinary life!

WHAT THE CRITICS SAID THE NEW YORK TIMES
“Mr Jeremy may not have movie star looks, but what he does have is personality to butn – which her can be seen doing, feversishly and at bothe ends, in this entertaining, lightly mocking documentary…”

“Porn Star” is punctuated by shots of Mr. Jeremy making his lonely way through the corridors of an airport, looking for a way out he never finds. In one of the film’s most moving passages he speaks of the diffuculty sustaining realtionships in his line of work; and tears nearly well up as he talks about the great love of his life, who got away.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gill and Mr. Eftekhar flim him being mobbed by adoring fans…who all seem to think he’s the luckiest guy in the world. Mr. Jeremy knows better, but he gallantly keeps his chin up.” Dave Kehr

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
“Scurrilously enjoyable…he’s a horn-dog hardwired for exhibitionism…he turned undergound notoriety into a kind of put-on trash stardom. What that says about America comes down to whether you view Jeremy as a flashpot hero or simply as the ultimate lucky putz B+” OG

THE SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE
“Porn Star” is a lively, ultimatly sad portrait that’s asks a very good question – how can someone who looks as bad as Jeremy be a porn star? – and offers some reasonable answers. “Porn Star” isn’t always kind, and Jeremy is particularily tough on himself.” (3 out of 4 stars) Edward Guthmann

MOVIELINE MAGAZINE
“Though sprinkled with plenty of humour, “Porn Star” is surprisingly poignant…” Juan Morales

THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER
“As a window intow a world that turns most social values upside down, “Porn Star” is fascinating.” Kirk Honeycutt

ENTERTAINMENT TODAY – LOS ANGELES
“Gill mixes style and footage admirably…this is a compelling story of a man who is at once a hero and a pariah” Brent Simon
