The Silent Option is a journey into the mysterious secret world of the Navy Seals. The Navy SEALs are a multi-purpose commando force dedicated to serve democracy worldwide and strike terror into the hearts of its adversaries. From steamy jungles and blistering deserts to frozen glaciers and icy depths of the oceans, we see riveting coverage of SEALs in action where they are most at home- in the shadows, under the cover of night, equipped with today's most powerful and deadly weapons. This programme investigates the inner workings of the honour-bound commando, where the real weapon is attitude and aggressiveness. Navy SEALs are among the most respected and feared operations unit in the world.

In Harm's Way was written and produced by Emmy Award-winning director/cameraman Gordon Forbes. Forbes penetrates the secretive world of the SEAL teams -- presenting the history, the gruelling training manoeuvres and the clandestine operations performed by the SEALS in their war on terrorism. Forbes interviews the leaders, policy makers and the Special Operators who make the SEAL teams one of the most feared military operations in the world. Inside operational units stationed around the globe, the SEALs train for the day they will be called to battle. From actual warfare preparation and missions in the Middle East to the dense jungles of South America, from the desert to the depths of the ocean, Discovery takes the audience inside one of the most secretive military organisations in America.

Direct Action revolves around the SEALs military role working with conventional main force units in peacekeeping missions in Europe and the Near East. Witness a live fire direct attack by a SEAL platoon on a suspected enemy missile site, three different visual scenarios on rescuing prisoners from foreign enemies and terrorists, including a pilot rescue re-enactment in a mock Yugoslavian town by sniper teams and a squad patrolling nearby. These rescues include extractions under live fire conditions. Program also contains interviews with SEALs including a return (by popular demand) of a weapons expert who will explain and demonstrate the latest weapons employed by US Navy SEALS.
