Conman "Brother Edgar" and his Mexican sidekick, Morales, lead a simple and not so spiritual life of subtle scheming and selling "Socks for God". It's hardly a divine career but it pays the bills and there seems to be no end of gullible pilgrims. Business is heading for heavenly heights - and then they meet "The White River Kid" (Wes Bentley-The Four Feathers, American Beauty). Call it holy justice but it seems that this ungodly pair is about to get a real taste of evil. They have been hijacked by the infamous local serial killer and forced to drive across America's south and into the hometown of his beloved fiancee. (Kim Dickens-Hollow Man). Inside the town limits, Brother Edgar and Morales are thrown into a tumbleweed of self redemption, political corruption and jealousy, as they encounter a corrupt singing sheriff, the outrageously overdone Weed family and a blind prostitute who ultimately tests Brother Edgar's faith and compassion.
