Proud trade unionist Eddie Booth, intent on preserving what he calls “our white heritage” lives with his wife in Maple Terrace. His world is turned upside down when Tory supporter Bill Reynolds moves in next door with his wife Barbie. What’s worse for Eddie is that the couple are West Indian, bringing Eddie’s bigoted views to the fore.
Like Till Death Us Do Part, Love Thy Neighbour would become a controversial chapter in sitcom history. The producers hoped to take the sting out of racial conflict and make them less hurtful, by making each of the men as bad as each other. The series would become a rating smash, often holding the top 5 position throughout its 6 year run. The series would also generate a feature film and even an Australian version starring Jack Smethurst in 1980.
Collected for the first time, this DVD features the entire 1st series of Love Thy Neighbour, all 7 episodes (over 3 hours worth) complete & uncut including rare original ad caps & Thames logos.
Also included as a bonus is the original pilot episode, never broadcast and presented here for the first time ever.
