Keith is a brilliant young barrister ripe for promotion to the bench when his wild young brother, Larry (Oliver), accidentally kills the ex-husband of his girlfriend, Wanda (Leigh), and turns to Keith for help.
As Keith struggles with the moral dilemma of choosing between his conscience, his career and a tramp who has been arrested and found guilty of the murder, Larry knows he must give himself up to stop an innocent man from being wrongly punished.
