Age Group | mid-late 20s |
Video Likes | High contrast blacks and whites without low level noise or moire patterns. |
Video Dislikes | Severe Aliasing. Telecine Wobble - c'mon how hard is it to scan film straight! |
Audio Likes | Lots of surround background stuff - I didn't pay a fortune for decent surround stuff for nothing! |
Audio Dislikes | Inaudible speech buried among loud music and effects. |
Favourite DVDs | Outside the listed top 10: Escape from New York (so hard to leave that one out of the top 10!), The Manchurian Candidate (the original), Dawn of the Dead, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, Goodfellas, Gallipoli... |
Least Favourite DVDs | How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, the R4 edition of The Crow (in fact that's probably the only DVD I've felt COMPLETELY ripped off having bought). |
Most Eagerly Awaited DVDs | Taxi 1-3 (The French Ones!), Kamikaze Taxi, Special Editions of the Bill & Ted's flicks, New Dr Who Box Sets... |
Titanic | Good 90 minute movie bookended by 45 mins of crap each side. The disc? don't know, don't care. |
The Matrix | One of those rare movies that lives up to it's reputation. One of the first DVDs to really be fun as a DVD as well as movie. |
Terminator 2 | Crap plot, great action, nice disc(s). |
Star Wars | "4-6" = great. Don't get me started on the "Special Editions" (putting the "Special Ed" back into...)! Decent extras would have been nice on the discs though. I prefer to think of eps 1-3 as really expensive fan films. It softens the blow... George Lucas is evil. |
Godzilla | Hilarious. Not only can you laugh at the movie, but anyone who takes it remotely seriously! So bad it's hilarious. |
Independence Day | Ditto Godzilla. I hated it at first, but upon re-watching it on DVD I got the joke. Real purty disc too! |
