Favourite DVDs | Death on the Staircase (Documentary) Riveting doesn't come close. A dissection of a murder trial with genuine surprises at each turn. Anything with Zhang Jiyi but if I had to make a choice probably House of Flying Daggers. New British Comedy: Spaced,League of Gentlemen, Big Train, The Office, Pulling. Lost in Translation : Murray and Johansson in a perfect combination.Tree of Life... |

1. The Staircase (Soupçons) (2004) As unflinching and direct as documentaries can be | 2. Lost in Translation (2003) Sublime script, direction and performances | 3. Blade Runner: Directors Cut (1992) Dark moody, ahead of its time. | 4. Casablanca: 60th Anniversary Special Edition (1942) Beautifully restored - best script ever! | 5. Waiting for Guffman (NTSC) (1996) I love every film from the Spinal Tap team. |
6. Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King: Special Extended Edition (2003) Any of the series could find a place in my top 10 | 7. Six Feet Under-The Complete First Season (2001) Each season is a joy to watch. | 8. House of Flying Daggers (Shi mian mai fu) (2004) The colours, the drama, the costumes, the swordfights! | 9. The Truman Show: Special Collector's Edition (1998) Jim Carreys best. Fascinating drama/comedy. | 10. Adaptation. (2002) Charlie Kaufman is a genius! |
