Site maintenance
Michael D
There are several urgent hardware maintenance tasks that are needed for the site's email and DNS servers - the main CPU fan is making somewhat alarming noises and occasionally triggering a reboot of the server and there are some issues with the UPS which need to be fixed. There will probably be some extended downtime whilst these issues are addressed. There was also some prolonged downtime a few weeks ago with NBN maintenance.

Late Night (Blu-ray) (2019)

A wonderful performance from Emma Thompson doesn't quite save a film that has something to say but struggles to say it well. Decent transfers, minor extras. First cinema release that I recall not getting a US disc release, Amazon Prime only. Sign of the times! . Sponsored by DeVoteD.

It's a Wonderful Life (4K Blu-ray) (1946)

Finally, after years of being stuck with poor-quality DVDs and the dated Blu-ray, Paramount has given It's a Wonderful Life the love and care it deserves. The 4K remaster is magnificent, a superb reminder that "old movies" can still look great with the proper care and attention. And it's a treat to finally be able to watch the movie with lossless audio for the first time ever. Throw in a satisfying collection of special features and a remastered 1080p Blu-ray disc, and this one gets my highest recommendation. . Sponsored by Disk Doctor.

Rambo: Last Blood (4K Blu-ray) (2019)

With the benefit of a native 4K finish, Rambo: Last Blood is a winner on Ultra HD Blu-ray, with a superb transfer that handily bests the 1080p Blu-ray in several areas. The Dolby Atmos soundtrack is excellent, and should leave audiophiles satisfied. Throw in a robust collection of behind-the-scenes featurettes, and this set comes recommended, though I'm still disappointed that the 4K disc only contains the shorter cut. . Rambo: Last Blood (Blu-ray) (2019)

It took a beating from the critics, and didn't exactly light the box office on fire, but for my money, Rambo: Last Blood is a solid revenge movie that's worth watching for Rambo fans and genre enthusiasts alike. It's nasty and violent as hell, but there's also more heart and effort than the usual B-movie. Last Blood looks and sounds superb on Blu-ray, with a few minor caveats. Meanwhile, there is over an hour of insightful behind-the-scenes extras that fans should definitely check out. I wish there was a commentary as well, but I'll take what we have. Recommended. .
