Tomb Raider (3D Blu-ray) (2018)

Although it's good that 3D Blu-rays are still manufactured, Tomb Raider's 3D is disappointing. The conversion itself is competent, but the movie doesn't lend itself to 3D due to the way it was planned and shot. The technical presentation is fine, although it remains disappointing that 3D discs are only saddled with 16-bit 5.1 audio tracks when there's a perfectly good Atmos mix available. The set also contains the 2D Blu-ray with four featurettes. This one is only worth picking up at sale price for those who like the movie and really like 3D. . Sponsored by Atomic Movies.

Bounty, The (Blu-ray) (1984)
Ray N

The Bounty, with a stellar cast including Anthony Hopkins, Mel Gibson, Laurence Olivier, Edward Fox, Daniel Day-Lewis and Liam Neeson, is the 1984 retelling of the 1789 mutiny led by Fletcher Christian against Captain William Bligh, a mutiny that has been famous, or infamous, on page and screen ever since. Was Bligh the sadistic, brutal captain he has sometimes been portrayed? The Bounty is more even handed and, it is argued by the filmmakers, a more historically accurate depiction of the events. . Chain Reaction, The (Blu-ray) (1980)
Ray N

The Chain Reaction is an Australian film from 1980 that stars Steve Bisley. It may be clunky in parts but it has beautiful visuals courtesy of Oscar winning cinematographer Russell Boyd, a larrikin sense of humour, an environmental disaster message, evil nuclear big business, a sinister conspiracy, exciting car chases by George Miller (Mad Max) and gratuitous nudity; something for everyone! .
