Atomic Blonde (Blu-ray) (2017)
Ray N

Cover Art Atomic Blonde, set in Berlin in 1989 as the Wall is coming down, is a spy thriller starring Charlize Theron, James McAvoy, John Goodman and Sofia Boutella. The film is stylish, with a killer soundtrack of 80s icons including David Bowie, New Order, Public Enemy, Queen and The Clash, but above all Atomic Blonde is a fabulous action film, without doubt, one the very best action films of 2017. . Big Little Lies (Blu-ray) (2017)

A well scripted and acted foray into the lives and social interactions of a group of parents set to the backdrop of a murder. . Sponsored by Atlantic DVD.

House, The (Blu-ray) (2017)

The House is a studious waste of potential. The trailers were funny, but the movie itself is mostly hit-and-miss. Even die-hard Will Ferrell fans will likely walk away disappointed. Roadshow's Blu-ray should please anybody who actually liked the movie. Video and audio are top-notch considering the source, faithfully replicating how the movie looked at the cinema, while the selection of special features is certainly more extensive than expected. This one is a rental at best, but buy with confidence if you're a fan. . Sponsored by Atomic Movies.

Wall, The (Blu-ray) (2017)
Ray N

In The Wall, a film by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow), a solitary, wounded American soldier (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) is trapped behind a crumbling wall in the Iraqi desert by a lethal sniper and must use all his training and skills to try to survive. The Wall is raw, tense, gritty and uncompromising, and a happy ending is by no means sure! . Sponsored by DVD Buzz.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow - Season 2 (Blu-ray) (2017)

I still don't love DC's Legends of Tomorrow even though I wish I could. Season 2 is an improvement over the shaky first season, and it's certainly enjoyable enough, but it's still too cheap and fluffy. Roll on Season 3. Roadshow/Warner Bros. continue their run of bitrate-starved titles, with strictly mediocre video that should look superior, while the lossless audio is much better. Extras, however, are in short supply. If you're a fan of the show, the set is worth grabbing at sale price. For everybody else, try before you buy. . Sponsored by DVD Buzz.

Annabelle: Creation (Blu-ray) (2017)

Without reinventing the horror genre, Annabelle: Creation is a competent, intense exercise in terror, easily surpassing its dud of a predecessor. And it's more pared-down than The Conjuring 2, which leaned too heavily on digital effects. If you like horror movies, you'll almost certainly enjoy this one. Even though a 4K release would have been preferable, the movie still looks and sounds terrific on Blu-ray, and features a small but agreeable supply of extras to round out the disc. No hesitation or caveats here - this one comes recommended. . Sponsored by Atomic Movies.
