Beirut (Blu-ray) (2018)
DanielB

Cover Art Jon Hamm stars in this taut spy thriller which is definitely worth seeking out if you enjoy thrillers that don't need to resort to excessive violence to tell their story. Good transfers which are only restricted by the source but no extras at all. . Sponsored by Atlantic DVD.

Single White Female (Blu-ray) (1992)
CallumK

Although not exactly a revered classic or an overlooked masterpiece, Single White Female is satisfying thriller entertainment; nicely-made and well-acted with some effective scenes, but not memorable or masterful enough as a whole to make a lasting impression. Umbrella's Blu-ray release is exceedingly workmanlike; a watchable 1080p high definition video presentation and a lossless audio track, but no extras, no subtitles and not even a menu. It's not an overly expensive release, so fans simply wanting the movie in HD will be satisfied. . Sponsored by Family Boxoffice.

Ismael's Ghosts (2017)
Ray N

Ismaelís Ghosts is a film by French auteur Arnaud Desplechin starring Mathieu Amalric, Marion Cotillard and Charlotte Gainsbourg that opened (out of completion) Cannes in 2017. It is a complex film dealing with art and creation, imagination, perspective, grief, loss, myths and ghosts, leaving unclear what is real and what is imagined. . Sponsored by DeVoteD.

Mile 22 (Blu-ray) (2018)
DanielB

A confused, ultra violent action film which delivers little in terms of story, character or dialogue. The martial arts action from Iko Uwais is pretty much all the film has to offer after a good opening sequence. Quality transfers and a long list of very short featurettes round out the package. . Sponsored by DVD Buzz.

Return to Lonesome Dove (1993)
Ray N

After the huge success of Lonesome Dove it was inevitable that there would be a sequel. Thus we get Return to Lonesome Dove with the same characters but some different actors (for example, Tommy Lee Jones did not return so Captain Woodrow Call is now played by Jon Voight). Return to Lonesome Dove is a decent western mini-series in its own right and well worth watching although it lacks the well-rounded characters and the script that made Lonesome Dove so compelling. . Sponsored by Atomic Movies.
