This Studio Canal HD DVD release maintains the censored US theatrical version, which is now rated MA 15+ in Australia after scoring an R 18+ rating on VHS. Thankfully the M version Columbia prepared for the local cinema run has never surfaced again since its VHS incarnation. The full version that was cut down from a X to an R in the US for its original theatrical run has not been officially released in cinemas or on home video, unlike Verhoeven's other SF classic, Robocop.
