Each starring Pierre Richard as the bumbling fool Francois, and Gerard Depardieu as the robust straight man, these three side-splitting films first brought the Odd Couple of French cinema to the world's attention, and show-case the ageless comedy of director Veber, who has gone on to make such classics as The Dinner Game and The Closet. LA CHEVRE When Campana (Depardieu) is unsuccessful at finding a klutzy missing girl, her father enlists Francois' help because he shares her bad luck. LES COMPERES An old girlfriend convinces both Francois and Jean Lucas (Depardieu) that they are the father of her missing son, and sends them off to locate her son. LES FUGITIFS When ex-bank robber Jean Lucas is taken hostage by Francois in his first attempt at bank robbery, the police assume Lucas is up to his old tricks, forcing the two on the run together.
